Transforming Public Procurement Green Paper: Consultation Response
Between December 2020 and March 2021, the Cabinet Office invited views on proposals to shape the future of public procurement. The Transforming Public Procurement Green Paper set out a series of proposals that aimed to speed up and simplify procurement processes, maximise value for money, and unleash opportunities for small businesses, charities and social enterprises to innovate in public service delivery.
The Cabinet Office received feedback from over 600 respondents to the consultation.
The responses indicate that the proposed measures were broadly welcomed. There was support for the key reforms including the proposed new principles for public procurement and the consolidation of the existing regulations and procedures. There are several areas where proposals have developed as a result of the feedback received. Ongoing engagement will be undertaken by the Cabinet Office regarding proposed changes to the procurement legislation.
The Cabinet Office plan to publish a summary of responses received, and details of what the Government intends to do in light of the consultation exercise.
